Risk of suicide is higher when the following behaviors are new or have increased, due to a painful event, loss, or change. These signs may mean someone is at risk, and in need of resources.
Discussion of:
• Being a burden to others
• Wanting to die, kill oneself
• Feelings of hopelessness
• Having no reason to live
• Feeling trapped
• Unbearable pain
Showing signs of:
• Substance abuse
• Anxiety
• Agitation
• Recklessness
• Sleeping too little
• Sleeping too much
• Withdrawal
• Isolation
• Extreme mood swings
